Jason DeLaTorre – Death Penalty RICO Case – Received 15 Years, Release Pending
Jason DeLaTorre was part of a street gang in the Albuquerque area known as Sureno 13. He was facing the federal death penalty for murders committed during the gangs’ drug dealing activities in Albuquerque. After lengthy litigation with multiple defendants, the death penalty was still pending against three of the defendants, including Mr. DeLaTorre. Mr. Twohig and his co-counsel, along with counsel for the other remaining Defendants, with Mr. Twohig as lead negotiator in a mediation conducted by U.S. District Judge Parker, negotiated a resolution of the case through which none of the defendants received the death penalty and Mr. DeLaTorre received a sentence of 15 years.
